As a general rule, temporary residents who work in Canada require a work permit (although there are exceptions). A Work Permit is a written authorization issued by an officer that allows a foreign national to engage in employment in Canada. Work Permits are linked to a specific job, employer and location. A foreign national may obtain a work permit under the following:
•Temporary Foreign Worker Program-TFWP
•International Mobility Program-IMP
•Post-Graduation Work Permit Program-PGWPP
•Trade Agreements
As a Temporary Foreign Worker you may engage in paid work activity; are authorized to enter and remain in Canada for a limited period; fill temporary labor and skill shortages when qualified Canadians are not available or come to Canada to work for business reasons under international trade agreements.
If you want to work in Canada, we will evaluate your case and let you know when to apply, how to apply, and guide you through the process.
