You can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if you are over 18 years old and a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident. You also must be able to meet their basic needs such as shelter, food and clothing and financially support them without the need of social assistance when they arrive in Canada as Permanent Residents.
List of family members you can sponsor:
• Your spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner.
• Dependent children under the age of 22.
• Adopted children.
• Parents or grandparents and their dependent children
• Orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild under the age of 18.
• Any other relative by blood or adoption if you are alone in Canada and have none of the other family members to sponsor.
If you want to sponsor any of your family members, we will assess if you meet the eligibility requirements and help you reunite with your family.
